The article is concerned with the problems of introducing distance-learning technologies into university-level educational process. The problems are grouped into three classes: those facing the whole university, the teacher working via the Internet and the distance learners. The psychological problems of the latter are described and the ways of solving them are outlined. On the basis of the conducted research and practical data the author concludes that the difficulties of this type of educational activity can be eliminated if it is perceived as a specific form of learning having its own didactic features and requiring special training of the teaching staff.
