Abstract |
||
The article deals with the attempt to reveal the inner ties which constitute the semantic, compositional and structural foundation of the poem “Beowulf”. With this respect the Functional Semantic Dependence (FSD) is analyzed on its surface and deep levels where it is represented in three main types: initial; basic; final. Each of them being unique in rendering the leading components (idea, author’s voice and the degree of psychological influence on the reader or listener), expresses them differently depending on the level of FSD. Applying the plot perspective to the interpretation of the text it was found out that the basic type occupies the leading position in expressing the idea on both levels, while the initial and final types are subordinate to it. |
