Abstract |
||
The article considers the features of landscape in the poem “Dead Souls”. It is shown that the landscape fulfills not only the function of typification. The author explores the border “zones” of landscape, the meaning of which is not limited to social generalization. The author’s word in landscape description is usually perceived in lyric digressions. But the author’s point of view becomes active in the description of “provincial” and “landlord” landscape as well. It enters into complex interactions with the adventurous character’s practical point of view and performs compositional function. At the same time the energy of the ironic word secretly prepares the author’s high emotions in lyric digressions. |
