The article presents a research of middle managers’ speech preferences in professional activity. The analysis showed that not only professional and psychological characteristics of middle managers but also speech imperatives are important for successful management. The information content of speech imperatives, which determines the qualitative perception of orders by line managers and ensures accurate implementation of their tasks set by middle managers, is defined. The conclusion is that prevalence of imperative forms of syntactic irrealis mood is characteristic of successful middle managers.
